We started Rebel + Suede in Atlanta with a kitchen scale, a stack of research on endocrine disruptors, and a wax we actually trusted. We weren't chasing a trend. We'd run a wellness center, read every label, and decided the candle by the bath shouldn't undo the bath. So we poured a cleaner one.
Smell and memory are tangled together — light the right one and you're somewhere else entirely. We still pour by hand, small batch, six candles at a time. No machines, no shortcuts, no additives we'd be embarrassed to name. Just the experience, clean enough to vibe with a clear conscience.
We don't make candles to sit pretty on a shelf. We make them to light. Live dirty, burn clean.
